Hey everyone,
It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything to the site, so it’s time for an update. When I originally came up with the idea for Your Daily Nerd, the goal was to become a rival for sites like Nerdist and IGN. I wanted to cover everything from gaming, to comics, to movies, TV shows, and every nerdy thing in between. In retrospect, I bit off way more than I could chew when first starting a site. Eventually, I got to a point where I was extremely overwhelmed trying to coordinate too much content at once, and fatigue hit quickly. It also didn’t help that my day job at that time drained me of my self motivation. It hurt tremendously as I gradually stopped making content on a regular basis.
However, I haven’t stopped thinking about YDN, and that’s where this post comes in. Over the coming days, weeks, and months, you’ll start to see new content on the site as well as the YouTube channel and podcasting platforms again. The biggest change, however, will be a slight change in format and types of content you’ll see. Let’s talk about them individually:
Your Daily Dungeon
First and foremost, Your Daily Dungeon will be getting updated picking up with where the last episodes left off. There have been lots of technical issues on my end that I’ve been having to figure out, but rest assured that your favorite group of adventurers have not given up their fight in Barovia. I can also confirm that we have plans for a second season as well.
Gaming News
One of the big inspirations for creating YDN in the first place was covering news in the gaming industry. It’s something I’m still quite passionate about, so I felt it only natural to bring back this type of content, either in article or video form. Currently, there’s no plan for a gaming podcast, but it’s something I would definitely like to explore again a little down the road.
Untitled Podcast Featuring Dylan Graves
Dylan has been one of my best friends for years now, and the idea of us having a show and making content together is something we’ve always played around with. You may know Dylan better as Noric, the eldritch knight hobgoblin from Your Daily Dungeon. With the rebuilding and continuation of YDN, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to integrate said show into the content roll out. Be on the look out for more information coming soon.
Dylan and I also have plans to make other video content primarily revolving around gaming, but we’re not counting out the possibility of making videos and posts about other things we like as well. He will basically be my right hand man from here on out with YDN.
Twitch Streams
Streaming on Twitch has become a small hobby of mine over the past few months, and I’d like to be doing it more often in conjunction with promoting YDN. You can follow me at twitch.tv/djsquatch to know when I go live and to chat with me as I play games.
Short Stories
Another hobby of mine over the past year has been writing short stories and I feel like YDN could be a good platform to get some of these stories out there. This won’t be a regular thing, but something that people could be interested in reading from time to time.
This is all that I have to announce and talk about today. Thank you so much to everyone for being so patient as I prepare for the site for this new update. I’ve sincerely missed creating on a regular basis for people to enjoy, so I’m extremely happy to be back.
